Dissemination (WP6)

Project VEGA dissemination was very intensive in the third project year. This was facilitated mainly by the VEGA support and the infrastructure achieved in the first two years that allowed starting very intensive research projects

  • Publication of the book Talaba D., Amditis A. “PRODUCT ENGINEERING: Tools and Methods based on Virtual Reality”, Springer April 2008. The book has been promoted at the initiative of the project VEGA coordinator in collaboration with the INTUITION NoE coordinator Dr Angelos Amditis and presents the main issues related to the use of Virtual reality in Product Engineering, by assembling contributions from the highest level scientists in Europe. The book includes 30 contributions grouped in 5 chapters covering the areas matching the 4 VEGA project workgroups. It has been well received by the scientific community in Europe and is expected to be indexed by the major scientific databases in the world.
  • Preparation of the Special Issue of the Elsevier Journal of CAD “Advanced and Emerging Virtual and Augmented Reality Technologies in Product Design”, Guest editors Doru Talaba (Transilvania University of Brasov – the VEGA project coordinator) and Imre Horvath (Technical University of Delft – VEGA partner). The Special Issue is currently in the paper review stage and is expected to be published by the end of 2008. Journal of CAD is one of the most important publication worldwide in Product Design having an impact factor of more than 1,7 in 2008 according to Thompson ISI citation index. This Special Issue is the direct result of project VEGA and demonstrates the level of excellence and recognition the VEGA research group reached in the last three years.
  • Contract and book under preparation to be published at Springer by author Talaba Doru “Virtual Multi-body Systems” due at the end of 2008.

  • Participation at standardisation bodies

The VEGA group was invited to participate as member for a new Committee  for Standardisation on Mobile Robots. The new committee is currently working for the definition of the relevant standards for Mobile and Service Robots to be proposed at ISO. An appropriate team for standardisation was nominated within the group led by Dr. Paul Borza (member of the Romanian standardisation Institute) and Dr Antonya Csaba (member of the new committee for standardisation in Mobile and Service Robotics). In this context, Dr, Csaba Antonya attended the meeting of the International Committee at Seul (South Coreea) in 2006.

  • FP7 Infoday

A FP7 Infoday was organized by the VEGA Group in cooperation with Romanian FP7 NCP. The event was attended by 40 participants from the University but also companies from the local area and Bucharest. The event was a good opportunity to promote the VEGA project achievements and the EC Framework Programmes FP6 and FP7.
